Onvo president shares video showing L90 automatically performing self-checks as pre-sales set to begin in 3 days

Nio’s sub-brand Onvo is gearing up for the release of its latest model, the L90, with pre-sales set to begin this Thursday. The large SUV is generating excitement as Onvo president Shen Fei shared a video on Weibo showcasing the L90’s impressive ability to conduct self-inspections of over 1,000 vehicle functions before leaving the factory. This cutting-edge technology is made possible by Nio’s innovative Tiantan new vehicle AI vehicle body self-inspection system and the SkyOS vehicle operating system.

The video demonstrates the L90’s autonomous capability to open and close doors and conduct thorough self-checks, a process that takes just three minutes to complete. Shen Fei described this as a scene straight out of a science fiction movie, highlighting Nio’s commitment to incorporating advanced technology into its manufacturing processes.

Onvo announced that the first batch of L90 display vehicles will be available at Onvo stores starting at 10 am Beijing Time on July 10, providing customers with the opportunity to experience the model firsthand. The L90 made its official debut at the 2025 Shanghai auto show, showcasing its spacious frunk and storage compartments.

Nio founder and CEO William Li revealed that the L90 will be priced under RMB 300,000 ($41,830) and production will commence at Nio’s third factory in Hefei in September. The L90 is a highly anticipated model following the underwhelming sales performance of the L60, Onvo’s first model. The L60, a mid-size five-seat SUV, faced challenges in the market, prompting a change in leadership from Alan Ai to Shen Fei.

In addition to the L90, Onvo has plans to launch the L80 in the fourth quarter, with expectations to achieve monthly sales of 25,000 units for its three Onvo models in the fourth quarter of the year. These developments underscore Nio’s commitment to innovation and growth in the electric vehicle market.

Overall, the upcoming release of the Onvo L90 represents a significant milestone for Nio’s sub-brand, signaling a new chapter in their quest for excellence in the electric vehicle industry. Stay tuned for more updates on Nio’s latest advancements and achievements.
