Onvo to compensate customers if their delivery wait exceeds 4 weeks

Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO), has taken a proactive step to address concerns over extended delivery wait times for its popular L90 and L60 electric SUV models. Customers who experience delays in receiving their vehicles beyond the specified timeframes will now be compensated with RMB 50 in credit points for each additional day of waiting.

The compensation initiative is primarily focused on the flagship L90 large electric SUV but also extends to the mid-size L60 SUV. For L90 customers, if delivery does not occur within 4 weeks of placing an order due to Onvo’s reasons, they will receive 500 credit points per day starting from the 29th day. These points can be utilized for purchases within the Nio App or Onvo App online store.

The L90, officially launched on July 31, has witnessed a surge in demand, with over 4,000 units delivered since the commencement of deliveries on August 1. The six-seat version is currently being delivered, while the seven-seat variant is scheduled for late September deliveries.

Despite making adequate production preparations and collaborating closely with supply chain partners, Onvo acknowledges that some orders may experience slightly longer delivery times than anticipated. The company reassures customers of its commitment to accelerating production and expediting vehicle deliveries.

Customers who placed orders for the L60 after July 1 are also eligible for compensation if the delivery wait exceeds four weeks. The estimated delivery timeframe for the L60 is 4-6 weeks after order lock-ins, as per information provided on the Onvo App.

Shen Fei, the president of Onvo, expressed gratitude towards all customers and highlighted the brand’s confidence in its delivery capabilities through the compensation initiative. The L90 has quickly gained popularity in the Chinese market, with pre-launch vehicles contributing to its success.

In terms of sales performance, the Onvo L90 secured 2,093 insurance registrations during the week of August 4-10, positioning it as the second best-selling large SUV in China behind the Huawei-backed Aito M8 EREV, which recorded 3,690 units. The Aito M8 is currently available in EREV options, with the BEV variant expected to launch later this month.

Overall, Onvo’s compensation offer reflects its customer-centric approach and commitment to ensuring a positive ownership experience for buyers of its electric SUV models. The brand’s emphasis on timely deliveries and customer satisfaction underscores its dedication to meeting evolving market demands and maintaining a strong foothold in the competitive electric vehicle landscape.
