Our favourite cars of 2024: Mercedes-Benz G-Class Electric

The Mercedes-AMG G63 is not just a car, it’s a statement. Priced at £180k, this beast boasts an impressive 603bhp and enough noise to turn heads (and maybe annoy the neighbors). It’s a vehicle that screams excess, throwing etiquette out the window in favor of power and performance.

But while some may bemoan the shift towards electric vehicles, the new G580 with EQ Technology proves to be the G-Class’s most extreme and capable version yet. With 579bhp and a whopping 859lb ft of torque, this three-ton monster is only slightly less powerful than its V8-powered counterpart. And with a range of around 2.0mpKwh, it’s clear that this vehicle is not for the faint of heart.

What sets the electric G-Class apart is its sense of humor. It can pivot on a dime, resembling a tank in its maneuverability. And with the ability to brake the inside wheels during a turn, it can navigate tight corners with ease – whether you’re off-roading or navigating a crowded car park.

Despite its whimsical nature, the electric G-Class comes with a price tag that rivals its louder sibling. But for those looking for a vehicle that’s less practical but more fun, this electric version is sure to deliver.

Overall, the Mercedes-AMG G63 and the G580 with EQ Technology are both impressive in their own right. Whether you prefer the raw power of the G63 or the quirky charm of the electric G-Class, one thing is for certain – driving either of these vehicles is an experience like no other.
