Review: The Special-Edition Porsche S/T
It’s not every day that a road tester falls in love with a special-edition Porsche, but the S/T has a way of capturing hearts. While I may not be the biggest Porsche fanboy, there’s something about the S/T that really sets it apart from the rest.
The standard 911 GT3 may be a bit too intense for my liking, with its downforce, firm suspension, and stripped-out interior. However, the S/T takes the familiar Porsche formula and adds just the right tweaks to make it truly exceptional.
Powered by a spectacular 4.0-litre flat six engine, the S/T offers a more engaging driving experience thanks to its manual gearbox with shorter ratios. Shifting gears is a challenge, but a satisfying one that truly allows you to connect with the car on a deeper level.
On the road, the slightly more relaxed suspension of the S/T makes it a joy to drive. While I didn’t have the opportunity to test it on the track at the Britain’s Best Driver’s Car contest due to a recall, I can imagine that its road-going character would make it just as fun on the track.
Unlike some of its more aggressive counterparts, the S/T maintains the classic Porsche 911 shape without excessive wings and splitters. This minimalist design enhances the car’s overall aesthetic appeal.
In addition to its impressive performance, the S/T boasts a stunning cabin with the Heritage Design pack featuring brown leather and fabric. This blend of modern amenities and classic design elements creates a truly unique and luxurious interior.
