A recent viral Tik Tok video showing a Ford Mustang Mach-E seemingly driving itself down a highway, scraping against barriers with the driver looking helpless and frightened, has caught the attention of many. However, California Highway Patrol has confirmed that the car was not in autonomous mode during the incident and the driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The video, posted by TikToker Marty Byrde, captured the alarming sight of the Mach-E swerving down the road, causing a collision with another vehicle and eventually crashing into a wall. The driver’s panicked reaction added to the drama, painting a picture of a vehicle out of control and endangering lives.

The California Highway Patrol in Redwood City released a statement clarifying the situation, stating that the vehicle was not operating in autonomous mode at the time of the crash. The driver was taken into custody for driving under the influence, resulting in injuries to another individual involved in the accident.

While the video may have caused panic among viewers, it is important to note that such short clips may not provide the full context of the situation. The CHP emphasized the need for thorough investigations and urged motorists to report dangerous driving behaviors promptly.

The incident is particularly surprising given Ford’s BlueCruise system’s excellent reputation in the realm of active driver assistance systems. Consumer Reports has even named it the top system, surpassing competitors like GM’s Super Cruise and Tesla’s Autopilot.

Despite the shocking nature of the video, it is reassuring to know that no serious injuries were reported. The fact that the Mach-E was not in autonomous mode during the crash adds a layer of clarity to the situation.

For those considering purchasing a Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford is currently offering attractive financing options for qualified buyers. Additionally, the vehicle’s durability is highlighted by a report of one Mach-E going 250,000 miles with 92% of its battery life remaining.

In conclusion, while the viral video may have sparked concerns about autonomous driving technology, it is crucial to wait for the full investigative process to unfold before jumping to conclusions. The safety and responsibility of drivers on the road remain paramount, and incidents like these serve as reminders of the importance of vigilant and sober driving practices.
