Peugeot’s e-308 takes the interior design of the third-generation 308 hatchback and elevates it to a whole new level. With the regular hatchback making its debut in 2021, the e-308 boasts a boldly sculpted fascia that is dominated by a central touchscreen infotainment system. The primary control layout follows Peugeot’s i-Cockpit ergonomic regime, featuring a small, low-sprouting steering wheel, a high-set digital instrument pack, and a driver’s seat positioned for optimal visibility.
Even the lower-tier Allure-trim cars come equipped with Peugeot’s impressive i-Connect 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complete with driver-selectable i-Toggle shortcut controls. These shortcuts allow drivers to set their own quick-access menu options for navigation, audio, and driver assistance functions, enhancing overall usability.
Driver comfort is a priority in the e-308, with the quirky control layout working seamlessly to create a user-friendly experience. While material quality is high in some areas, there are instances of harder, cheaper mouldings that detract from the overall fit and finish of the interior. Nevertheless, the overall impression of quality is convincing and visually appealing.
Second-row space in the e-308 is somewhat limited, even by mid-sized hatchback standards. However, it is suitable for growing kids or young teenagers, aligning with Peugeot’s compact-second-car philosophy aimed at competing with Golf rivals.
Boot space in the hatchback version of the e-308 is class-competitive, measuring at 361 litres below the load bay cover. While this is acceptable, it falls slightly short of the space offered in the ICE version. On the other hand, the e-308 SW estate variant boasts a larger boot space of 548 litres, making it more practical for everyday use. Despite being smaller than its ICE equivalent, the e-308 SW’s boot capacity surpasses that of competitors like the MG 5.
