Polestar Sets New Guinness World Record for Longest Journey by an Electric SUV

Polestar, the renowned electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently made headlines by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest journey traveled by an electric SUV. The feat was accomplished by the Polestar 3 Long Range Single motor model, which covered a remarkable distance of over 580 miles (935 km) on a single charge. This historic achievement took nearly 23 hours to complete, solidifying the Polestar 3’s position as a leader in the electric vehicle industry.

The record-breaking journey was completed on public roads in the UK, where the Polestar 3 surpassed its WLTP range estimate of 706 km (435 miles) by an impressive 230 km (143 miles). This remarkable performance demonstrates the efficiency and reliability of Polestar’s electric SUV, showcasing its capabilities beyond what was previously thought possible.

Powered by a 111 kWh battery and featuring a single 295 hp (220 kW) rear-mounted motor, the Polestar 3 Long Range Single motor model is designed for optimal efficiency. Despite its impressive specifications, the vehicle exceeded expectations by maintaining 20% battery capacity even after reaching its WLTP range figure. This allowed the Polestar 3 to travel an additional 12.8 km (8 miles) before requiring a recharge, highlighting its exceptional range and endurance.

The journey was overseen by professional efficiency drivers, who took turns driving every three hours to ensure a smooth and successful trip. The unmodified Polestar 3 was equipped with standard 20″ wheels and Michelin Sport 4 EV tires, further demonstrating its exceptional performance on the road.

Polestar’s UK Managing Director, Matt Galvin, praised the vehicle’s achievement, stating that the record-breaking journey showcases the exponential improvement in battery range over the years. He emphasized that the Polestar 3’s performance has debunked the myth that electric vehicles cannot travel long distances, paving the way for a sustainable and efficient future in transportation.

This milestone comes at a time when several other electric vehicle manufacturers are also pushing the boundaries of range and efficiency. With advancements in battery technology and a growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions, the electric vehicle industry is poised for continued growth and innovation.

As Polestar continues to set new records and redefine the capabilities of electric vehicles, the future looks bright for sustainable mobility. With a focus on efficiency, performance, and environmental responsibility, Polestar is leading the charge towards a cleaner and more sustainable automotive industry.
