Polestar Unveils Battery State-of-Health Certificates for Pre-Owned Polestar 2 Vehicles

Polestar has recently launched an innovative initiative by introducing battery state-of-health (BSOH) certificates for pre-owned Polestar 2 vehicles. This move is part of the Polestar Pre-owned programme, which involves select used cars re-entering the partner network. The BSOH certificate provides customers with transparent information about the battery health and capacity of a pre-owned Polestar 2. By certifying the usable battery percentage, customers can now confidently purchase a pre-owned Polestar 2 knowing that the battery is in optimal condition.

Since its debut in 2020, the Polestar 2 has received more than 20 over-the-air (OTA) software updates, enabling continuous improvements to the vehicle over time. These OTA updates have resulted in efficiency gains, extending the car’s range through enhanced battery management and introducing new functionalities such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, popular apps like Waze and YouTube have been integrated into the system. With regular software updates scheduled, pre-owned customers can rest assured that they have access to the latest software features in their Polestar 2.

To qualify as a certified pre-owned Polestar, each car undergoes a comprehensive 112-point inspection at an official service point. Furthermore, Polestar provides independently verified certifications for mileage, service history, and ownership to validate the status of each pre-owned vehicle. Every pre-owned Polestar comes with a 24-month warranty and the remaining coverage of the 8-year battery warranty.

Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar, expressed his enthusiasm for the new battery state-of-health certificate, stating, “Thanks to our new battery state-of-health certificate, we’ve just added another reason for used EV buyers to consider purchasing a pre-owned Polestar 2. Along with the 112-point inspection, 24-month warranty, roadside assistance, and our commitment to enhancing our vehicles through over-the-air software updates, buyers can be confident that they are getting the best possible example of a pre-owned Polestar 2.”
