Pony AI, a leading autonomous driving startup listed on NASDAQ, has recently commenced robotaxi road tests in Luxembourg as part of its strategy to expand its overseas business operations. The company has collaborated with a local partner, Emile Weber, to deploy multiple robotaxis for testing in the region. Although the exact number of vehicles was not disclosed in the press release, the tests are set to kick off in Lenningen and will later expand to other areas in Luxembourg.

Last year, Pony AI established its European R&D center in Luxembourg, focusing on the development of cutting-edge autonomous driving technologies. The company signed a memorandum of understanding with Emile Weber on October 23, 2024, to work together on the development and deployment of robotaxis in the region. Emile Weber, with over 150 years of operational history, is a well-established mobility service provider in Luxembourg offering a wide range of transportation services.

James Peng, the co-founder and CEO of Pony AI, expressed excitement about the collaboration with European partners and emphasized the company’s commitment to deepen its partnership with Emile Weber. Pony AI aims to expand its autonomous driving services to more regions in Luxembourg in the coming months. The company is also working closely with various Luxembourg public institutions and commercial partners to establish technical and policy frameworks for its operations in the region.

With over 45 million kilometers of autonomous driving test mileage globally, Pony AI has built an operational network covering 2,000 square kilometers across major cities in China. The company has completed over 500,000 hours of fully autonomous driving tests in diverse scenarios over the past two years. In addition to Luxembourg, Pony AI is actively expanding its autonomous driving business in South Korea, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore.

On a separate note, Bloomberg reported that Pony AI could potentially be listed in Hong Kong later this year, indicating further growth and expansion opportunities for the company in the global market. The company’s focus on innovation and collaboration with local partners underscores its commitment to revolutionizing the future of mobility through autonomous driving technology.
