Porsche and AMG to go to battle with new GT2 RS and GT Black Series

The upcoming Porsche GT2 RS is set to be a powerhouse on the road, with power being sent exclusively to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Sources suggest that the torque will comfortably exceed the 590lb ft of the current 911 Turbo S. Despite the new architecture, the GT2 RS is expected to be heavier than its predecessor, with a potential gain of around 60kg. This increase in weight is likely to be offset by the extensive use of carbon fibre, the reduction in sound insulation, the fitment of Perspex windows, and the incorporation of other lightweight trim elements.

One of the most striking features of the new GT2 RS will be its aerodynamic package, which is rumored to be even more dramatic than that of the current 911 GT3 RS. At the heart of this package is a more aggressive active rear wing that is expected to generate even more downforce than the 860kg produced by the GT3 RS at 177mph. The rear wing will also feature DRS-style stalling for enhanced performance. In addition, the GT2 RS will have a lower front diffuser and a variety of air channels to improve stability at high speeds, drawing inspiration from Porsche’s racing heritage.

The suspension of the GT2 RS will be a key element in its performance, building on the adjustable architecture of the GT3 RS. The ball-jointed suspension is likely to retain the eight-way adjustability of bump, rebound, diff lock, and traction settings. With reworked calibration, broader track widths, stiffer anti-roll bars, and a recalibrated rear-wheel steering system, the GT2 RS promises to deliver an exhilarating driving experience. Braking will be handled by carbon-ceramic discs as standard, ensuring reliable and powerful stopping power.

Overall, the Porsche GT2 RS is shaping up to be a formidable supercar with a focus on performance and aerodynamics. With its powerful engine, advanced aerodynamics, and refined suspension system, the GT2 RS is set to push the boundaries of what a high-performance sports car can achieve. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new model from Porsche.
