Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng has officially confirmed that the first batch of production Xpeng P7+ liftback sedans has been rolled off the Guangzhou production line and sent to stores across China. This marks a significant milestone for the company as they continue to expand their presence in the electric vehicle market.
Pre-sales for the Xpeng P7+ began at the Paris Motor Show, where the car was priced at 209,800 yuan (29,500 USD). The response was overwhelming, with Xpeng receiving 30,000 orders in just 1 hour and 48 minutes after pre-sales began. It’s important to note that these orders are more of an intent, with buyers only needing to put down a refundable 99 yuan deposit. In return, they will receive a 3,000 yuan discount if they choose to purchase the car.
Xpeng is positioning the P7+ as a flagship model following the success of the Mona M03, which is currently achieving over 10,000 sales a month. The P7+ boasts an impressive space efficiency of 88%, surpassing that of luxury vehicles like the Audi A6L and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The car offers ample front and rear seat space, with 157 mm of knee room and the ability to fit thirty-three 20-inch suitcases inside.
The Xpeng P7+ features dimensions of 5056, 1937, and 1512 mm (l/w/h), with a wheelbase of 3000 mm. The car’s interior space is maximized by its A-pillar forward, C-pillar backward design. Additionally, both front and rear seats come equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, with the rear seats being electrically adjustable for rake.
One of the most significant changes in the P7+ compared to previous Xpeng models is the elimination of the Pro and Max distinctions in driving assistance levels. The car comes equipped with 11 cameras, 3 millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars, powered by two Nvidia Orin X chips with 508 TOPS computing power. The XNGP driving assistance system utilizes Xpeng AI Eagle Eye for a vision-based approach, providing clear and accurate information without the need for Lidar.
The XNGP system also offers the capability to start from a standstill, a feature not commonly found in other self-driving systems. At launch, the P7+ will offer a single-motor version with a choice of 180 kW or 230 kW motor, along with a 60.7 kWh or 76.3 kWh battery pack. The car promises a range of up to 710 km on a single charge, making it a competitive option in the electric vehicle market.
Media test drives for the Xpeng P7+ are scheduled for next week, with an official launch expected later this month or early next month. Deliveries are set to begin in November, solidifying Xpeng’s position as a key player in the electric vehicle industry.
