Introducing the Range Rover Electric: A Closer Look at the Prototype
Unveiled in the Arctic Circle, the Range Rover Electric mules are turning heads with their uncamouflaged appearance. This bold move was made to showcase the exceptional build quality of the initial prototypes, according to JLR.
These all-black prototypes, devoid of the usual matt trim elements, bear a striking resemblance to the ICE Range Rover models that have been popular since 2022. JLR has emphasized that this design choice highlights the seamless integration of the modernist design language while staying true to the Range Rover heritage.
One of the key highlights of the Range Rover Electric is its innovative battery and electric drive unit, both of which are assembled in-house by JLR. This marks a significant milestone for the brand as they venture into the realm of electric vehicles.
While specific performance details are still under wraps, JLR has assured customers that the Range Rover Electric will deliver the same legendary “go-anywhere” capability as its ICE counterparts. This includes impressive towing capacity, exceptional wading capabilities, and top-notch all-terrain performance that surpasses other luxury electric SUVs. In fact, the Range Rover Electric is said to be capable of wading through water that is 850mm deep.
With a promise of performance that is on par with the existing V8 models, enthusiasts can expect a total output close to the 523bhp offered by the V8 variant. This suggests that the Range Rover Electric will pack a powerful punch while maintaining its eco-friendly credentials.
