Tesla has unveiled the facelifted Model Y in China, with the latest model now making its way through the regulatory process for approval. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released a catalog of upcoming models for public comment, which includes three versions of the facelifted Model Y.
The model comes in three variations with product model numbers TSL6480BEVAR5, TSL6480BEVAR6, and TSL6480BEVBA7. The dimensions of the model are 4,797 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,624 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. It is available in two weight specifications of 1,921 kg and 1,992 kg, as previously announced by Tesla.
The TSL6480BEVAR5 and TSL6480BEVAR6 are single-motor models with a peak power of 220 kW, utilizing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from CATL. On the other hand, the TSL6480BEVBA7 is a dual-motor model with a front motor delivering 137 kW peak power and a rear motor providing 194 kW peak power, powered by lithium ternary batteries from LG Energy Solution.
Tesla’s China website has listed the facelifted Model Y with two variants under the “Launch Series.” The website indicates that deliveries are expected to begin in March pending regulatory approval, which is the final step before the model can be sold in China.
The facelifted Model Y is offered in two variants – a rear-wheel-drive version starting at RMB 263,500 ($35,940) and a long-range all-wheel-drive version starting at RMB 303,500. This marks a slight increase in pricing compared to the previous versions, with the entry-level model seeing a 5.44 percent price hike and the long-range all-wheel-drive version up by 4.33 percent.
Customers who order the facelifted Model Y before the sales deadline of February 28 can benefit from an extended warranty of two years or 40,000 kilometers. The rear-wheel-drive version features a 62.5 kWh battery pack with a CLTC range of 593 kilometers, while the long-range all-wheel-drive version comes with a 78.4 kWh battery pack and a CLTC range of 719 kilometers, making it the longest-range Model Y ever produced.
With the facelifted Model Y making its way through the regulatory process in China, Tesla is gearing up for the official launch of its latest offering in the market. The new model brings updated features, improved performance, and enhanced battery technology to cater to the growing demand for electric vehicles.
