Xiaomi EV, the car-making division of Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, has filed for a new dual-motor variant for the YU7 SUV. This comes after previously filing for a single-motor and another dual-motor variant. The new variant’s motors have a smaller peak power compared to the previous dual-motor version.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China released a regulatory catalog for public comment, which includes the Xiaomi YU7. Feedback can be submitted between February 20-26, with entry into the catalog being the final regulatory step before a model can be sold in China.

The YU7 model, with the product model number XMA6500LBEVA2, features dual electric motors with a peak power of 130 kW at the front and 235 kW at the rear. These motors are supplied by Inovance Automotive and United Automotive Electronic Systems. The vehicle is powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from BYD’s battery division, FinDreams Battery.

Measuring 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, the YU7 has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, similar to the previously filed variants. The new dual-motor variant weighs 2,425 kg and can reach a top speed of 240 km/h.

The YU7 is Xiaomi’s second electric vehicle, following the SU7 electric sedan. It was first introduced in the MIIT’s regulatory catalog on December 9, with an expected launch in June or July. The model initially featured a dual-motor version with higher peak power from both front and rear motors. A single-motor version was later included in another regulatory catalog on January 10.

Recently, MIIT released a catalog showing that the YU7 has a CLTC range of up to 820 km. This highlights Xiaomi’s commitment to developing electric vehicles with impressive range and performance.
