The Renault 5 Electric: A Game-Changing Performance Vehicle

The innovative in-wheel motors of the Renault 5 Electric provide instant power delivery to the rear wheels, offering precise control and significant weight and space savings at the axle compared to traditional motors. This cutting-edge technology, likely supplied by British specialist Protean Electric, eliminates the need for an electronic differential.

Powered by a 70kWh battery pack strategically placed for optimal agility, the Renault 5 Electric boasts impressive drift capabilities, complete with a dedicated drift mode and rally-style vertical handbrake. With a range of 250 miles, this electric powerhouse can last between 15 and 20 minutes at full throttle on a track.

Designed for performance enthusiasts, the Renault 5 Electric features a robust thermal management system that allows it to reach speeds of up to 168mph before fast-charging at 350kW. In just 15 minutes, the battery can go from 15% to 80% capacity, ensuring minimal downtime between exhilarating drives.

Renault CEO Fabrice Cambolive emphasizes the car’s accessibility and high-octane driving experience, stating, “When you have such a car which is such fun to drive, why not push the boundaries?”

Developed on an all-aluminum platform by Alpine, Renault’s performance-oriented brand, the Renault 5 Electric promises uncompromising performance, agility, and efficiency. Its bespoke body, crafted from lightweight materials, pays homage to the iconic Renault 5 while embracing a supercar aesthetic.

With a carbon-composite structure and a kerb weight of just 1450kg, the Renault 5 Electric maintains a nimble and aerodynamic profile reminiscent of the original 5 Turbo and 5 Turbo 2. Sporting aero-optimized front and rear bumpers, large air outlets, side scoops, and 20-inch alloys, this electric marvel exudes a captivating blend of heritage and modernity.
