RoboSense, a leading Chinese LiDAR manufacturer, recently achieved a significant milestone by delivering its one millionth LiDAR unit. The company’s production facility in Shenzhen witnessed the historic moment on February 21, with the LiDAR being handed over to Humanoid Robot, a company based in Shanghai, on February 24. This accomplishment solidifies RoboSense’s position as the world’s first company to produce one million high-channel LiDAR units.
RoboSense, listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange as 2498, has established itself as a key player in the LiDAR industry, catering to a diverse range of clients including BYD, SAIC Motor Corp, Geely Auto, and Toyota. In 2024 alone, the company recorded sales of 544,200 LiDAR units, marking a significant increase from the previous year’s sales of 256,000 units. Automotive LiDARs accounted for 95.52 percent of the total sales, with 519,800 units dedicated to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Aside from automotive applications, RoboSense also ventured into robotics, selling 24,400 LiDAR units for robotics and other products in 2024. The company’s one millionth LiDAR, an E1R LiDAR designed for robotics, was promptly delivered to Humanoid Robot for integration into their flagship humanoid robot, “Qinglong.” This robot boasts an impressive 43 degrees of freedom and can achieve a speed of 1 m/s while carrying a load of 40 kilograms.
As RoboSense’s automotive LiDAR business continues to thrive, the company has shifted its focus towards the burgeoning field of robotics. Embracing a new strategy, RoboSense aims to position itself as a “robotics platform company,” offering essential components and solutions for the AI robotics sector. In addition to LiDAR products like the E1R and Airy LiDAR, the company has introduced innovative offerings such as Active Camera, a cutting-edge robot vision product, and Papert 2.0, a sophisticated humanoid hand.
With a commitment to innovation and diversification, RoboSense is poised to make significant strides in both the automotive and robotics industries. This latest achievement of delivering one million LiDAR units underscores the company’s dedication to technological advancement and market leadership.
