SAIC Audi has recently completed the construction of its production base for AUDI in Anting, Shanghai. This state-of-the-art facility boasts an impressive annual production capacity of 360,000 units and will be solely dedicated to producing AUDI brand models. The move marks a significant milestone for the Audi brand as it transitions towards a future focused on electrification and intelligence.

The flagship model to roll off the production line at this new facility is the E5 Sportback, which represents the cutting-edge technology and design philosophy of Audi. The E5 Sportback is built on the Advanced Digitized Platform and incorporates advanced technologies such as AI visual inspection, digital twins, and laser measurement. The stamping, body, painting, and final assembly workshops at the facility have achieved 100 percent automation for critical processes and ensure 100 percent data traceability throughout the production process.

In addition to the E5 Sportback, the production base will also handle the manufacturing of multiple future Audi models, further solidifying its position as a key production hub for the brand. The E5 Sportback, which recently began pre-sales in China, offers four variants with starting prices ranging from RMB 235,900 to RMB 319,900.

Built on an 800-volt high-voltage architecture, the E5 Sportback is available in both single-motor and dual-motor configurations. The dual-motor version boasts a maximum power output of 579 kW (788 horsepower) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. The vehicle is equipped with ternary lithium-ion battery packs with capacities ranging from 76.2 kWh to 100 kWh, offering an impressive CLTC range of 618 km to 770 km. With a quick 10-minute charge, the E5 Sportback can add 370 km of range, making it a compelling option in the electric vehicle market.
