Great Wall Motor’s Haval brand has announced the official entry of its second-generation Haval H9 diesel-powered SUV into the market on December 5. The price range for this new variant is expected to be between 238,900 – 252,900 yuan (32,800 – 34,700 USD). This is in comparison to the gasoline-powered version of the second-generation Haval H9, which was launched in September and is available in three trims with a price range of 199,900 – 229,900 yuan (28,400 – 32,700 USD).

The diesel-powered Haval H9 retains the same design as its gasoline-powered counterpart. The front features a rectangular grille with four horizontal chrome bars, round retro headlights, and a sturdy black bumper. Moving to the rear, there is a high-mounted brake light, vertical taillights, a spare tire, and a side-opening tailgate. Consumers have the option to choose between a spare tire or an external square storage unit, with varying lengths and widths for each design.

The body of the Haval H9 diesel variant has a square shape with roof luggage racks and conventional door handles. The vehicle rides on multi-spoke rims and is powered by a 2.4T diesel engine producing 137 kW (184 hp) of power and 480 Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, it comes equipped with BorgWarner’s TOD intelligent four-wheel drive system.

Inside the cabin, the Haval H9 diesel features a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 14.6-inch central control screen with intelligent voice interaction, physical buttons for vehicle functionalities, an off-road handle for the co-pilot, wireless phone charging, and a gear lever. The vehicle has seen strong sales performance, with over 900 units sold in the first 5 days after its launch and more than 6,000 units still to be delivered. In October alone, 2,783 units were sold.
