Skoda, a brand under the Volkswagen Group, has been performing exceptionally well in almost every market except for China. Due to poor sales performance over multiple years, the parent company is considering pulling Skoda out of the Chinese market by 2025. Despite this setback, Skoda continues to thrive in Europe, surpassing even Audi in terms of margins and volumes.
One of Skoda’s best-selling models in Europe is the Octavia, particularly the estate and hatchback variants. The brand also offers a range of SUVs that are in high demand. The production of the new Kylaq, Skoda’s smallest SUV yet, has commenced in India. This compact SUV is powered by a turbocharged 1.0-liter engine and is expected to have an eight-year life cycle.
The Elroq, an electric SUV, has recently been revealed by Skoda. With a range of over 350 miles, the Elroq features a unique design with the Skoda logo appearing only on the wheel centers. The launch variants of the Elroq include different powertrain options, and a mid-cycle facelift is scheduled for late 2028.
In the Indian market, Skoda is planning to introduce facelifts for the Slavia and Kushaq models in 2025. The brand is also gearing up to launch the Kylaq, a sub-four-meter SUV aimed at capturing a significant share of the local market. The platform for the Kylaq is a shortened version of the MQB A0 IN architecture.
Looking ahead, Skoda has several exciting developments in the pipeline. The Karoq is set to be replaced by the Elroq in Europe, while the Epiq, a plug-in SUV based on the MEB Entry platform, is expected to debut soon. Skoda is also working on its first electric model specifically developed for the Indian market, set to launch in 2026 or 2027.
In the coming years, Skoda plans to extend the lifecycles of models like the Kamiq, Fabia, and Scala in Europe. A new big SUV inspired by the Vision 7S concept is also in the works. Additionally, an electric version of the Octavia and the next generation Enyaq are on the horizon.
Overall, Skoda’s future lineup is filled with innovative models and electric offerings, signaling a shift towards sustainable mobility. With a focus on expanding its presence in key markets and introducing cutting-edge vehicles, Skoda is poised for continued success in the automotive industry.
