Skoda starts production of electric Enyaq

Skoda Auto has recently kick-started the assembly of the new Enyaq at its primary plant in Mladá Boleslav. With an impressive daily output of up to 300 Enyaq family models, the production line is in full swing.

The Enyaq, which is based on the modular electric toolkit (MEB), is being manufactured in Hall M13 at Škoda Auto’s Mladá Boleslav plant, alongside the Octavia and the all-new fully electric compact SUV, the Elroq. This makes it the first Volkswagen Group facility in Europe where both ICE and BEV models are produced side by side, allowing for quick adaptation to changes in consumer demand.

Apart from assembling the new Elroq and updated Enyaq, the Mladá Boleslav plant is also responsible for manufacturing battery systems for these MEB-based vehicles. The traction batteries produced here are also utilized in electric models from other Volkswagen Group brands.

Andreas Dick, Skoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics, expressed his excitement about the start of production for the new Enyaq family. He emphasized how the Enyaq’s predecessor marked a significant milestone in manufacturing, paving the way for the current processes in place.

The successor to Skoda’s first all-electric production model, the new Enyaq, is available with two battery sizes and three powertrain options, offering outputs ranging from 204PS to 286PS (150 kW to 210 kW). The Enyaq lineup includes the Enyaq 60, Enyaq 85, and Enyaq 85x, each featuring different motor configurations for rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Skoda highlights the aerodynamic enhancements of the new Enyaq, such as optimized air curtains, redesigned wheels, and a sealed gap between the radiator and grille. These improvements contribute to a low drag coefficient of 0.245 for the Enyaq and 0.229 for the Enyaq Coupé, resulting in an extended range of up to 365 miles (WLTP) for the Enyaq Coupé and up to 359 miles for the new Enyaq.

Overall, the production of the new Enyaq family at Skoda’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav showcases the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry. With cutting-edge technology and a focus on electric mobility, Skoda is paving the way for a greener and more efficient future in the Czech Republic and beyond.
