UK Deliveries of the Smart #5 Set to Begin in October

Anticipation is building as the UK prepares for the arrival of the Smart #5, the brand’s largest car to date. Scheduled for delivery starting in October, this electric vehicle is poised to capture the attention of buyers in the large SUV market with its rugged character and cutting-edge technology.

Underpinned by an advanced 800V electrical architecture, the Smart #5 will ride on the Geely SEA2 platform, shared with its smaller siblings, the #1 and #3 crossovers. Measuring 4705mm in length, 1920mm in width, and 1705mm in height, the #5 is comparable in size to the new Peugeot 5008, although it does not offer a seven-seater option.

While maintaining Smart’s signature modern design elements like concealed door handles and rounded edges, the #5 sets itself apart with a more robust aesthetic featuring boxier headlights and a rugged appearance.

Inside the cabin, dual 13-inch OLED infotainment touchscreens take center stage on the dashboard, controlled by an updated Smart UX system. The driver is treated to a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, enhancing the overall driving experience.

Although specific power figures have not yet been released, reports from the Chinese government suggest that the top-tier model could boast an impressive 637bhp from a dual-motor setup under the Brabus nameplate.

Offering five trim levels – Pro, Pro+, Pulse, Summit Edition, and Premium – the Smart #5 caters to a range of preferences. Battery sizes vary from 76kWh to 100kWh, providing up to 366 miles of driving range in the most efficient configuration. With rapid recharge capabilities of up to 400kW, the #5 can achieve a 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes.

Of particular interest is the Summit Edition, featuring off-road enhancements inspired by the #5 concept. Equipped with four-wheel drive, a roof rack, and a side-mounted ladder, this variant also offers five off-road driving modes, including settings for snow and mud.

Prices for the Smart #5 are expected to start around £40,000, offering a compelling option for drivers seeking a blend of style, performance, and technology in a spacious package.
