Tata Elxsi and Qualcomm Technologies have joined forces to accelerate the development and adoption of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) for the next generation of mobility. This partnership will leverage virtual models of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions, essential for cloud-native application development in the automotive sector.

The core of this collaboration involves Tata Elxsi creating virtual electronic control unit (ECU) platforms using Snapdragon virtual system-on-chips (VSoCs). These platforms will cater to automakers and Tier-1 suppliers, enhancing mobility solutions across passenger, commercial, and off-highway vehicle segments.

By reducing dependency on physical hardware, the initiative aims to accelerate software development and validation, expediting the overall SDV development lifecycle. Tata Elxsi’s head of transportation business unit, Shaju S, highlighted the company’s leadership and investments in SDV technologies and the future of cloud-native automotive software development.

Qualcomm Technologies’ vice president of Automotive Software Product Management, Laxmi Rayapudi, emphasized the benefits of Tata Elxsi’s AVENIR suite with Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions, offering a high-performance, scalable solution for automakers to realize the next generation of SDVs. This unique combination of software expertise, virtualized models, and ready-to-adopt SDV software provides OEMs with a compelling and future-ready path to SDVs and next-generation mobility.

At the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2025, Tata Elxsi plans to showcase its AVENIR SDV suite integrated with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC. This demonstration will highlight real-world applications for infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems, showcasing the innovative solutions developed through the Tata Elxsi and Qualcomm partnership.

Overall, this collaboration between Tata Elxsi and Qualcomm Technologies signifies a significant step towards advancing SDV technologies and shaping the future of mobility through cloud-native software development. By leveraging virtual models and cutting-edge solutions, the partnership aims to drive innovation and accelerate the adoption of SDVs in the automotive industry.
