Electric Era recently completed a rapid installation of six fast EV charging stalls at a Costco location in Northport, Florida. The entire process, from contract to go-live, took just 54 days, showcasing the company’s ability to expedite EV charging infrastructure projects. This remarkable speed was made possible by Electric Era’s innovative battery-backed system, which eliminated the need for extensive grid upgrades and lengthy permitting delays.

Seattle-based Electric Era secured the deal with Costco on April 7, 2025, and swiftly submitted all necessary drawings and permits by April 18. By mid-May, the hardware was on-site, and by May 30, the charging station was operational with three charger units offering both CCS and NACS plugs. The 200 kWh chargers can charge EVs up to 80% in just 20 to 60 minutes, boasting features like 24/7 monitoring, automatic fault detection, and over-the-air updates for seamless operation.

Electric Era’s patented technology significantly reduces the site’s reliance on grid power, making installations more straightforward and decreasing grid power consumption by up to 70%. The company’s streamlined approach, handling everything in-house from engineering to project management, enabled them to go from concept to live site in under two months.

CEO Quincy Lee emphasized that retailers prioritize fast and reliable EV charging systems to enhance their business growth and profitability. By bypassing utility upgrades, Electric Era’s solution aligns with grant programs and delivers a competitive edge for retailers seeking to attract high-value customers.

Beyond speed, the North Port Costco installation integrates customer-centric features such as loyalty program integration, point-of-sale connectivity, and 32-inch screens for promotional content. These enhancements aim to engage EV drivers and drive sales while they charge their vehicles.

Electric Era’s charging systems boast outstanding performance metrics, including a 98.5% uptime per port, over 90% session reliability, and a 96% positive rating on PlugShare, qualifying them for Tesla’s Third Party Charging program. The company’s team of former SpaceX engineers in Seattle employs a meticulous engineering process to optimize every aspect of the system, ensuring reliability and efficiency.

As the number of EV drivers continues to rise, the demand for convenient and high-quality charging infrastructure grows. Electric Era’s rapid deployment at the North Port Costco exemplifies the company’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of the electric vehicle market.
