Nio is gearing up to revamp its current models next year, with spy shots of the facelifted Nio ET5 Touring starting to surface. The most significant change in the new model is the transition of the center screen from a vertical orientation to a horizontal one. This shift in design is a departure from the existing Nio models and is expected to offer a fresh and modern look to the vehicle.
It is still unclear whether the new model will adopt the Cedar vehicle system, like the ET9, as it will be based on an upgraded version of the NT 2.0 platform rather than the NT 3.0 platform. Nio introduced the ET5 Touring, a station wagon variant of the ET5 sedan, in China earlier this year, and deliveries have already commenced.
The company unveiled the ET9 executive flagship sedan at Nio Day 2023 and officially launched the model at Nio Day 2024. The ET9 is the first Nio model built on the NT 3.0 platform with the Cedar vehicle system. The NT 3.0 platform brings significant changes, including the transition of the center screen to a horizontal layout, similar to the ET9 and Onvo’s L60 model.
In addition to the ET9, Nio is set to introduce a 7 series model next year, based on the NT 3.0 platform. Currently, Nio offers a range of models, including the ES8, ES7, ES6, EC7, EC6, ET7, ET5, and ET5 Touring, with deliveries of the ET9 expected to begin in March 2025.
During an earnings call in November, Nio management revealed plans for a new product cycle starting in 2025, with new models under the Onvo and Firefly brands. The company aims to launch new models and facelifts of existing models over the next two years. The Onvo brand will introduce two family SUVs in 2025, while Nio’s facelifts will feature larger dimensions, lower costs, and more LiDAR technology.
Nio officially launched the Firefly brand at Nio Day 2024, with the first Firefly-branded model available for pre-sales in China. The vehicle will hit the market in April 2025. Moving forward, Nio plans to switch to a new generation platform for the Nio brand, starting with the ET9, followed by new products or facelifts of existing models. Onvo will also launch two SUVs in the latter half of 2025, expanding its product lineup.
Overall, Nio is poised for an exciting year ahead, with a lineup of new models and updates to existing ones, signaling the company’s commitment to innovation and growth in the electric vehicle market.
