Tata Elxsi, a design and technology services company, has recently announced a collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) to work on the development of vehicle software engineering and software-defined vehicles (SDV). This partnership comes as part of Mercedes-Benz’s ongoing efforts to lead advancements in SDVs, aiming to enhance vehicle capabilities and optimize performance.

Mercedes-Benz’s integrated software architecture plays a crucial role in improving vehicle capabilities, creating intuitive interfaces, and maximizing performance. By teaming up with Tata Elxsi, a company that is also collaborating with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) globally to develop SDV platforms, Mercedes-Benz hopes to accelerate innovation and software scalability across various vehicle models and platforms. This collaboration is expected to reduce costs and ensure shared accountability in the development process.

Tata Elxsi brings to the table its expertise in autonomous, electric, and connected vehicle technologies, artificial intelligence, and SDVs. The company supports its initiatives with state-of-the-art labs, Mobility Innovation Centres, and a range of solutions, including the AVENIR SDV suite and AUTONOMAI ADAS suite.

Manoj Raghavan, MD, and CEO of Tata Elxsi, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration with MBRDI, highlighting the company’s deep domain expertise in Automotive Software and Digital technologies. He emphasized that this partnership will allow Tata Elxsi to contribute to Mercedes-Benz’s vision of building the world’s most desirable cars. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in the long-standing relationship between Tata Elxsi and MBRDI.

In addition to the partnership with Mercedes-Benz, Tata Elxsi recently joined forces with Qualcomm Technologies to accelerate SDV development. This collaboration focuses on leveraging Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions, which are essential for cloud-native application development in the automotive sector. Tata Elxsi is actively working on developing virtual electronic control unit (ECU) platforms using Snapdragon virtual system-on-chips (VSoCs).
