Tesla hikes price of long-range Model 3 in China by $1,400, offers improved range and performance

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) has recently made some updates to its Model 3 electric sedan in China, including a price increase for the long-range all-wheel-drive version. The price of the Model 3 long-range variant has been raised by RMB 10,000 ($1,400) to a new price of RMB 285,500. This represents a 3.63 percent increase from the previous price of RMB 275,500 for this particular model.

In addition to the price increase, Tesla has also made improvements to the range and performance of the Model 3 long-range version. The CLTC range of the vehicle has been extended from 713 kilometers to 753 kilometers, providing customers with even more driving range on a single charge. Furthermore, the acceleration time from 0-100 km/h has been reduced from 4.4 seconds to 3.8 seconds, enhancing the vehicle’s performance capabilities.

Despite the price increase, the delivery wait time for the Model 3 long-range variant has been shortened from 3-5 weeks to 1-3 weeks, making it more accessible to customers who are eager to get behind the wheel of this popular electric sedan.

It is important to note that the prices and specifications of the other two variants of the Model 3 in China have remained unchanged. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive version and the all-wheel-drive performance version continue to have starting prices of RMB 235,500 and RMB 339,500, respectively. The delivery wait times for these models also remain consistent at 1-3 weeks and 8-10 weeks, respectively.

In the first five months of this year, Tesla’s retail sales in the Chinese domestic market totaled 201,926 units, marking a 7.82 percent decrease compared to the previous year. Despite this slight decline, Tesla remains a strong player in the Chinese electric vehicle market, with its Model 3 lineup continuing to attract customers with its combination of performance, range, and cutting-edge technology.

Overall, Tesla’s updates to the Model 3 in China reflect the company’s commitment to providing customers with high-quality electric vehicles that offer both performance and efficiency. With the improvements to the long-range variant, Tesla is continuing to push the boundaries of what electric vehicles can achieve, setting a new standard for the industry.
