Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) is gearing up to expand the deployment of its intelligent driver assistance system (supervised) in China and Europe by 2025, pending regulatory approval, as reported by the Shanghai Observer. This move marks a significant step for Tesla as it continues to push the boundaries of smart driving technology.

At the 2025 World AI Conference in Shanghai, Tesla showcased a range of its cutting-edge products and technologies, including its electric vehicle (EV) lineup, a humanoid robot, driving assistance technology, and the latest V4 Supercharger. The event served as a platform for Tesla to highlight its commitment to innovation and advancement in the field of autonomous driving.

The company is set to make its intelligent driver assistance system available to individual users in select parts of the United States by the end of this year, according to the Shanghai Observer report. This transition signifies a shift from the “pre-autonomous driving era” to the “post-autonomous driving era,” signaling Tesla’s forward-looking approach to smart driving technology.

In a recent software update in China, Tesla introduced advanced intelligent driving features reminiscent of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, although the company refrained from explicitly mentioning FSD. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, revealed that the company utilized publicly available videos of Chinese roads and signs from the internet to train its FSD system, circumventing data export restrictions.

Tesla’s presence in China, particularly in Shanghai where it operates a manufacturing facility for the Model 3 and Model Y, aligns with the city’s focus on promoting the smart driving sector. Shanghai recently announced plans to deploy 500 ride-hailing vehicles for data collection purposes, with a target of collecting over 10 million clips by the end of the year. Additionally, the city aims to establish an autonomous driving large model evaluation system to facilitate the mass production of end-to-end smart driving models.

Furthermore, Shanghai has issued a new batch of robotaxi test licenses to companies such as Baidu, Pony AI, and WeRide, highlighting the city’s commitment to fostering innovation and development in autonomous vehicle technology.

As Tesla continues to enhance its intelligent driver assistance system and expand its presence in key markets like China and Europe, the company remains at the forefront of the smart driving revolution. With a focus on innovation, safety, and efficiency, Tesla is shaping the future of transportation and redefining the automotive industry landscape.
