Tesla, the renowned electric vehicle (EV) maker, achieved exceptional sales figures in China during the fourth quarter of last year. According to reports, Tesla managed to sell approximately 196,900 vehicles in China alone, accounting for a significant 40 percent of its global deliveries.
The company’s performance in China continued to be impressive throughout the entire year of 2024, with a total of about 657,000 units sold, marking an 8.8 percent increase compared to the previous year. In contrast, Tesla experienced a slight decline of 1.07 percent in its global deliveries for 2024, the first decrease in over a decade.
In December 2024, Tesla set a new record by selling around 83,000 electric vehicles in China, representing a substantial 12.8 percent increase from the previous month. The company’s success in the Chinese market contributed significantly to its overall performance for the year.
While Tesla’s global deliveries for the fourth quarter reached an all-time high of 495,570 vehicles, the figures fell short of analysts’ expectations. Despite this, the company managed to achieve a 2.28 percent increase in deliveries compared to the same period in 2023, and a notable 7.06 percent increase from the third quarter of 2024.
For the entire year, Tesla delivered a total of 1,789,226 vehicles worldwide, slightly lower than the previous year’s figures. However, the company’s performance in China remained robust, with sales in the country accounting for approximately 37 percent of its global deliveries.
Overall, Tesla’s success in the Chinese market played a crucial role in offsetting the slight decline in its global deliveries for 2024. With a strong presence in China and a commitment to innovation in the EV industry, Tesla continues to be a leading player in the automotive market.
