Tesla is gearing up to launch its new Model 3+ in China as early as September, bringing back the sedan’s longest-range variant, according to a recent report from local media outlet Cailian. The new Model 3+ is expected to be priced around RMB 270,000 ($37,610), potentially making it Tesla’s longest-range model to date.

This new variant of the Model 3 has already sparked excitement among Tesla enthusiasts, with expectations that it will offer exceptional range capabilities. The Model 3+ is a single-motor variant with a peak motor power of 225 kW, which is higher than the current single-motor variant’s power output of 194 kW. The use of ternary lithium-ion batteries from South Korea’s LG Energy Solution further enhances the Model 3+’s performance and range.

The combination of a single-motor setup and high-energy-density ternary batteries suggests that the Model 3+ could achieve a range of up to 800 kilometers or more. This would make it the longest-range model in Tesla’s lineup, surpassing the current long-range all-wheel-drive Model 3 with a range of 753 kilometers.

Tesla’s strategic use of different battery technologies and motor configurations across its Model 3 variants allows customers to choose the model that best fits their range and performance needs. The Model 3 lineup in China currently includes the entry-level rear-wheel-drive version with a range of 634 kilometers, the all-wheel-drive performance version with a range of 623 kilometers, and the long-range all-wheel-drive version with a range of 753 kilometers.

The introduction of the Model 3+ signals Tesla’s commitment to offering a diverse range of electric vehicles to meet the varying needs of consumers in the Chinese market. The company has been steadily expanding its Model 3 lineup in China, with the updated Model 3 Highland and dual-motor performance version already available for purchase.

With the imminent launch of the Model 3+, Tesla is poised to further solidify its position as a leading electric vehicle manufacturer in China. The combination of cutting-edge technology, exceptional range capabilities, and competitive pricing makes the Model 3+ a highly anticipated addition to Tesla’s lineup. Stay tuned for more updates on the official launch of the Model 3+ in China.
