The Dacia Spring might be flawed, but it’s easy to love

The Dacia Spring: A Budget-Friendly Electric City Car

With a modest 44bhp output, the Dacia Spring may seem underpowered compared to other city cars. However, its 92lb ft of torque at low speeds makes it surprisingly nimble around town, making it a practical choice for urban driving.

While its acceleration may be sluggish out of town, with a 0-62mph time of just under 20 seconds, the Dacia Spring is more than capable of handling city streets. Its top speed of 78mph may not be groundbreaking, but it is sufficient for everyday driving.

The base model of the Dacia Spring offers a range of 140 miles on a full charge, giving drivers around 130 miles of real-world driving before needing to recharge. While this range may not be impressive compared to more expensive electric cars, it is a significant improvement over previous models like the Honda E.

One potential drawback of the Dacia Spring is its limited charging capabilities, as it only accepts AC electricity. This means that fast charging options may not be available, requiring drivers to plan their charging needs accordingly. However, for most drivers who primarily use their cars for short trips, this should not pose a significant issue.

Overall, the Dacia Spring offers an affordable and practical option for city driving. With its budget-friendly price tag and adequate performance, it is a suitable choice for urban commuters looking to make the switch to electric vehicles. While it may not be the most advanced electric car on the market, it offers a compelling combination of affordability and usability for everyday driving.
