Kia’s PV5 electric van, first introduced as a concept at last year’s CES, has now made its debut in its production version. The zero-emission workhorse, available in Passenger and Cargo versions, retains its futuristic design with added plastic body cladding for a more rugged look. The van features high-mounted angular LED daytime running lights that also function as turn signals, along with main headlights positioned lower on the front bumper. The front of the van is equipped with chunky side mirrors, a large radar sensor, and a prominent charging port cap in the center.
The Cargo version of the PV5 comes with twin side-opening tailgate doors, while the Passenger model features a single lift-up tailgate door. Interior images have not been released yet, but it is known that the PV5 will come with separate screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Both versions of the van have chunky grab handles in the A-pillars and a spacious greenhouse in the Passenger model.
The PV5 has been developed as an electric vehicle from the ground up and does not share any components with Kia’s Carnival. It is part of the “Platform Beyond Vehicle” (PBV) family, hinting at potential future electric vehicle offerings from Kia. The reveal of the PV5 is scheduled for February 24 at the 2025 Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain, with complete technical specifications to be released three days later.
Kia plans to offer additional derivatives of the PV5 electric van and explore various conversion options to meet different business and personal needs. The PV5 is part of Kia’s strategic move towards electrification and sustainable mobility solutions. Stay tuned for more updates on this innovative electric van from Kia.
