Enjoy full access to the complete Autocar archive at the magazineshop.com

With the automotive industry evolving rapidly, the demand for innovative design solutions has never been higher. In response to this, IAD has continuously upgraded its facilities to meet the challenges of today’s complex projects. From initial concept development to production engineering and prototype testing, IAD is equipped to handle every aspect of a design job with precision and excellence.

Not content with just being a behind-the-scenes player, IAD has also ventured into designing and showcasing its own concepts to showcase its creativity and expertise to the world.

One of the standout creations was the Alien, unveiled at the prestigious 1986 Turin motor show. This avant-garde design captivated audiences and garnered attention alongside renowned concepts from industry giants like Italdesign, Zagato, and Pininfarina. The Alien not only showcased IAD’s design prowess but also attracted new business opportunities, proving to be a lucrative investment.

The year 1988 marked another milestone for IAD as they introduced the elegant Royale saloon and the adventurous Hunter off-roader. With a turnover of £40m and the prestigious quality approval from the Ministry of Defence, IAD’s reputation soared to new heights.

Reflecting on the success and growth of IAD, it is clear that the vision and leadership of its chairman have been instrumental. By delivering high-quality work and nurturing strong client relationships, IAD has carved a niche for itself in the competitive world of automotive design.
