There’s plenty of EV incentive money for fleets – let’s find it!

The private energy sector is making significant investments in battery storage, charging infrastructure, and commercial EV rebates, despite threats to energy efficiency incentives by Washington. Ford Pro recently introduced its Electric Vehicle Incentive Consultation Service to assist commercial customers in navigating the evolving world of EV incentives.

Since the launch of the Consultation Service, Ford Pro has helped customers uncover over $40,000 in available incentives for charging purchases and $1.5 million for electric vehicle purchases. One success story includes Joliet Junior College in Illinois, which faced budget constraints when considering electrifying its fleet. With the help of Ford Pro consultants, the college was able to access state and local utility incentives, resulting in a free L2 EV charger and an $8,000 EV charging infrastructure rebate from ComEd.

Commercial customers like Tracy Williams, Deputy Chief of the Joliet Junior College Police Department, have praised Ford Pro’s efforts in securing rebates for electric vehicles. Williams mentioned that the service helped their small department allocate resources more effectively and reduce the initial investment.

Other manufacturers, such as Orange EV, ReVolt Motors, and Windrose, are also incorporating fleet assessments into their market strategies. Ford, through its Ford Pro E-Switch Assist, is utilizing telematic data to determine the suitability of replacing gas- and diesel-powered vehicles with EVs.

While Ford Pro’s E-Switch Assist is a valuable tool, integrating fleet assessment and incentive sourcing into sales pitches raises questions about credibility. Local programs like ComEd’s Fleet Electrification Assessment offer unbiased guidance to commercial customers, helping them identify assets suitable for electrification and maximize savings.

National companies like ICF and GNA are also providing fleets with tools and information to enhance energy efficiency through solutions like electrification, route planning, and right-sizing. The collaboration of the right information, product offerings, and utility involvement has led to successful EV adoption in states like Illinois.

As the EV industry continues to evolve, it is crucial for states and utilities to prioritize EV initiatives to achieve sustainable growth. The original content from Electrek serves as a valuable resource for staying informed about the latest developments in the EV sector.
