Tired or wired? UK road trip in the 260,000-mile Tesla Model S

Exploring Electric Car Range on a London Road Trip

As we embark on our journey, the total distance ahead of us is just over 190 miles. This prompts me to delve into the realm of electric car range calculations – a task akin to splitting the bill at the end of a restaurant meal, but with a technological twist.

Despite the occasional nail-biting moments with the battery hovering at 5% or 10%, the car remains steadfast in its assurance that it will reach our destination. With an array of rapid chargers, including Superchargers, along our route, there’s no need to play range roulette, but I’m curious to push the limits of the car’s capabilities.

As we speed along the M3 motorway, passing by rapid chargers at Fleet and London drawing closer, I can’t help but marvel at the Parisian-spec Model S. Its well-worn exterior exudes a nonchalant charm, while its impressive performance and exemption from ULEZ charges make it the quintessential London vehicle.

Despite minor quirks like the temperamental driver’s window and lack of keyless entry, the Model S’s efficiency in city traffic is commendable. The predicted range even begins to increase as we navigate through the bustling streets.
