China’s automotive market continues to show strong performance, with the latest data from the Chinese Passenger Car Association (CPCA) revealing the top-selling vehicles in November 2024. The ranking is broken down by SUV, MPV, and sedan + hatchback categories, providing a comprehensive view of the market trends.
SUV segment:
The SUV segment saw a total of 1.201 million units sold in November, with the Tesla Model Y leading the pack with 44,576 units sold. BYD’s Song Plus and Yuan Plus followed closely behind, with 40,265 and 26,400 units sold, respectively. The Tesla Model Y has been a consistent performer in the Chinese market, with sales reaching 418,428 units for the year so far.
In the off-road SUV market, the BYD Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5 emerged as the top-selling model with 6,058 units sold. Other notable performers in this segment include the Tank 300, Tank 400 Hi4-T, and Tank 500 Hi4-T. Overall, 42 SUV models surpassed the 10,000 units sales mark, indicating the strong demand for SUVs in China.
MPV segment:
The MPV segment saw the Toyota Granvia take the top spot with 10,035 units sold in November. This was a record-breaking performance for the Toyota Granvia in China. The BYD Denza D9 DM-i, which had been a consistent best-seller in the MPV segment, came in seventh with 5,795 units sold.
Sedan and hatchback segment:
The sedan and hatchback segment had a total of 37 models surpassing the 10,000 units sales mark, with the BYD Seagull leading the pack with 56,156 units sold. This model has been a dominant force in the segment, with total sales reaching 404,839 units by the end of November.
