Toyota electric micromobility concept

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has unveiled the FT-Me, a cutting-edge electric micromobility concept tailored for urban commuters. This compact two-seater vehicle merges premium design with affordability, constructed using recycled materials to achieve a remarkable 90% reduction in carbon footprint compared to current city vehicles.

Inspired by Toyota’s mobility solutions for the Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the FT-Me is less than two and a half meters in length, offering exceptional maneuverability in congested urban spaces. It only requires half a standard parking space and can further reduce that to one-third with perpendicular parking options.

The FT-Me features a sleek design reminiscent of a jet helmet, sporting a bi-tone black and white finish symbolizing safety and adaptability. Designed to cater to a broad audience, including entry-level license holders and teenagers in select markets, this concept vehicle also boasts customizable options and a 360-degree visibility concept to enhance safety through increased eye-contact with other road users.

Advanced connectivity features provide keyless entry and seamless smartphone integration, while the vehicle’s steering wheel allows for operation through hand commands, making it accessible to wheelchair users without modifications. The propulsion system of the FT-Me is energy-efficient, consuming less energy than traditional high-capacity battery electric cars.

Additionally, the vehicle comes equipped with a solar panel roof that can add 20km to 30km to its range per day, potentially eliminating the need for daily charging for many users. This aligns with Toyota’s ‘Mobility for All’ philosophy, appealing to a wide demographic, particularly those looking to downsize their vehicles in response to evolving urban environments.
