Driving the Porsche Taycan on the Formula E track: A Lesson in Efficiency

As I navigated the track access route through the ExCel’s underground car park in the Porsche Taycan, I couldn’t help but feel the urge to push the limits. However, the presence of stubborn road sweepers made it challenging to unleash the full potential of the electric sports car.

Upon reaching the bustling pits filled with team members, officials, media personnel, and VIP guests, I realized the importance of the Taycan’s silent operation. With pedestrians often unaware of its presence, the whistle-wielding marshals played a crucial role in ensuring a smooth path for me to park the vehicle in an unconventional spot.

With the guidance of Formula E champion Félix da Costa, I delved into the world of efficient electric driving. Félix emphasized the correlation between his track and road driving skills, highlighting the significance of maximizing range and minimizing energy consumption. The concept of “lift and coast” and strategic regenerative braking techniques were key takeaways from our conversation.

Implementing these tips for efficient driving, I slowly maneuvered the Taycan out of the pits and onto the track, this time without any obstacles hindering my progress. While I refrained from pushing the car to its limits, I embraced the notion of driving smart to enhance performance and longevity.
