Toyota GR Yaris: The Ultimate Affordable Driver’s Car

When it comes to affordable driver’s cars, the Toyota GR Yaris stands out as a true champion. Not only did it outshine competitors like the VW Golf GTI and Honda Civic Type R in our road test, but it also took the top spot in our Britain’s Best Affordable Driver’s Car contest.

One of the key features that set the GR Yaris apart is its exceptional levels of grip in both wet and dry conditions, thanks to its advanced 4WD system. The front-to-rear torque distribution can be adjusted to suit different driving preferences, with options for a 60:40 split in standard mode, a 50:50 split in Track mode, and a 30:70 split in Sport mode for a more playful driving experience.

Toyota ensured that the GR Yaris came fully equipped with all the necessary features to deliver a thrilling driving experience. Buyers could choose between different specifications, such as the Convenience Pack with 18-inch wheels, softer suspension, and a JBL sound system, or the Circuit Pack with stiffer front springs, anti-roll bars, lightweight BBS alloys, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S performance tires.

Despite its impressive performance on the road, the GR Yaris does have some drawbacks. Visibility is limited, especially from the rear, and the rear seats are cramped. Cabin insulation could be better, and fuel efficiency is not the best, averaging around 27mpg in mixed driving conditions.

However, these minor flaws are overshadowed by the overall greatness of the GR Yaris. The updated model, priced at £44,250, makes the original GR Yaris an even more attractive option for those looking for a fun and balanced hot hatch at a more affordable price point of £25,000.

If you’re in the market for a thrilling driving experience without breaking the bank, the Toyota GR Yaris is the perfect choice. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own one of the best affordable driver’s cars on the market today.
