Xpeng, a prominent Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, is gearing up to expand its sedan lineup with the introduction of a new coupe. The coupe, internally known as E29, is designed to appeal to the performance- and style-conscious demographic and is likely to be named P7 Ultra.
The teaser of the new coupe was shared by Xpeng’s head of creative design, Rafik Ferrag, on Instagram. The design of the coupe exudes a sporty and futuristic vibe, deviating from the family-oriented focus of Xpeng’s current models. The front and rear design of the coupe bears resemblance to the P7+ sedan launched in November 2024, with added aerodynamic features like a spoiler.
Ferrag expressed his excitement about designing the latest Xpeng model, highlighting the innovative and original aesthetics that break away from traditional norms in the industry. The coupe is poised to set a new standard in futuristic design, promising a stunning and stylish appearance that hints at the future.
While details about the new coupe are limited, it is expected to cater to customers seeking a blend of performance and style. Xpeng’s current sedan lineup includes the Mona M03, P7+, and P7i, with the P7 being the company’s first sedan introduced in May 2020. The P7 lineup has been well-received for its sleek exterior design.
The upcoming coupe is anticipated to target a different segment of the market, emphasizing performance and style over family-friendly features. Xpeng filed a trademark application for P7 Ultra earlier this year, hinting at the vehicle’s powerful powertrain capabilities.
In April, Xpeng reported delivering 35,045 cars, marking the second-highest monthly figure in the company’s history. The Mona M03 and P7+ sedans were the top-selling models, contributing significantly to the overall deliveries. With the introduction of the new coupe, Xpeng aims to further strengthen its presence in the EV market and appeal to a wider range of customers.
