Vietnam’s VinFast ramps up global EV sales in 2024

VinFast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, has experienced a remarkable 192% year-on-year increase in car deliveries, with a total of 97,399 vehicles delivered in 2024. This growth far exceeded the company’s revised annual sales target of 80,000 vehicles for the year.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, VinFast saw a significant surge in sales, with 53,139 EV units sold globally. This marked a 342% increase year-on-year and a 143% increase quarter-on-quarter. Additionally, in January 2025, VinFast achieved domestic EV sales exceeding 10,000 units, including over 4,000 units of the VF 3 model and 3,300 units of the VF 5.

The company attributes this success to its innovative dealership distribution model and direct-to-customer approach. VinFast has also expanded into new markets such as the Middle East, India, and the Philippines, while continuing to strengthen its presence in Indonesia, North America, and Europe.

Madam Thuy Le, chairwoman of VinFast, expressed her satisfaction with the 2024 results, stating that the company exceeded expectations despite market fluctuations and macroeconomic challenges. Looking ahead to 2025, VinFast remains committed to leading the green transportation revolution with its diverse all-electric lineup.

However, despite its domestic achievements, VinFast has faced difficulties in expanding its market share globally, as reported by Reuters. The company continues to navigate challenges in selling outside of Vietnam.

In conclusion, VinFast’s impressive sales performance in 2024 showcases its resilience and dedication to driving the electrification movement towards a sustainable future. As the company looks towards continued growth and innovation, it remains focused on leading the transformation towards green transportation.
