Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. EVERY1 concept, a sneak peek into its upcoming entry-level electric vehicle set to hit the market in 2027. The new compact EV, built on the MEB Entry platform, aims to make electric mobility more accessible with an estimated price tag of around âŹ20,000 ($21,409).
Andreas Mindt, the head of design at Volkswagen, expressed, âOur goal was to create something bold yet approachable. The ID. EVERY1 exudes confidence while remaining likable â thanks to details like the dynamic front lights and the âsmilingâ rear. These design elements give it character and a personality that resonates with people.â
Drawing inspiration from its predecessor, the discontinued up!, the ID. EVERY1 features a distinctive design that sets it apart. It is part of Volkswagen’s Electric Urban Car Family, along with the ID. 2all and the sportier ID. GTI Concept, all based on the new MEB modular electric drive platform with electric front-wheel drive, maximizing space utilization and efficiency.
Equipped with a 70kW (95 PS) electric drive motor, the concept vehicle offers a minimum range of 250km and a top speed of 130km/h. Positioned between the former up! and the current Polo, the ID. EVERY1 provides seating for four passengers and a luggage compartment with a capacity of 305 liters.
The introduction of the ID. EVERY1 aligns with Volkswagen’s broader electric model campaign outlined in the âFuture Volkswagenâ agreement reached with employee representatives in December 2024. The agreement focuses on ensuring economic stability, job security, and technological leadership in sustainable mobility.
Volkswagen plans to launch a total of nine new models by 2027, including the production version of the ID.2all priced at less than âŹ25,000. These models are crucial to Volkswagen’s Electric Urban Car Family, developed collaboratively across the brand’s volume manufacturers within the Volkswagen Group.
Thomas SchĂ€fer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, emphasized the brand’s commitment to offering a wide range of mobility solutions in Europe, particularly with the rollout of the all-electric Urban Car Family starting in 2026. The company aims to solidify its position as the leading volume manufacturer in terms of technology by 2030, catering to diverse customer needs.
In line with its strategic goals, Volkswagen recently strengthened its collaboration with China’s EV battery manufacturer, Contemporary Amperex Technology Company (CATL), focusing on battery research and development, new materials applications, and component development.
As Volkswagen continues to expand its portfolio in the high-volume segment, encompassing efficient combustion-engine vehicles, advanced hybrids, and innovative all-electric models, the ID. EVERY1 represents a significant step towards achieving its vision of accessible and sustainable mobility for all.
