Volkswagen Golf GTI Review 2025, Price & Specs

The Volkswagen Golf GTI has received some subtle but significant updates to its interior, focusing mainly on improving the usability of its on-board technology. The iconic tartan cloth sports seats are still standard, with the option to upgrade to black leather memory seats. However, many drivers prefer the unique character of the grey fabric with red accents, which adds a pop of color to the otherwise dark cabin.

In terms of interior space, the Golf GTI falls in the middle of its class. Adults will find adequate legroom in the back, with no compromised headroom due to an adventurous roofline design. The boot space is the same as the standard Golf, with an official volume of 377 litres. Additionally, lifting the floor reveals extra storage space, allowing for the option of a spacesaver spare wheel.

While there are some scratchy plastics present in the interior, overall quality remains solidly built with satisfying tactile touchpoints. The fingerprint-sensitive gloss black centre console may not be everyone’s favorite feature, but it is typical for the class.

Moving on to the multimedia system, the Golf GTI has seen improvements in this area as well. The touch-sensitive pads on the steering wheel have been replaced with standard buttons for easier operation. The central infotainment screen has increased in size to 12.9 inches, providing ample space for displaying information. The software, known as MIB4, is user-friendly and highly customizable, allowing drivers to personalize their layout preferences.

The new system features two permanent shortcut bars for climate control functions and customizable shortcuts. The home screen and digital gauge cluster can be arranged to display the most relevant information for the driver. Physical touch bars for temperature and media volume remain, now illuminated at night for easier visibility.

Overall, the Volkswagen Golf GTI’s interior updates enhance the overall driving experience, offering improved technology and comfort without compromising its iconic design. This blend of modern features and classic styling makes the Golf GTI a standout choice in its class.
