Volkswagen Group and FAW Group Collaborate to Drive Innovation in FAW-Volkswagen Joint Venture

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Volkswagen Group and FAW Group have recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Germany to strengthen their longstanding partnership and propel new advancements in product development and technological innovation for FAW-Volkswagen, their joint venture. This collaboration aims to bring a fresh wave of innovation to China’s automotive market, particularly in the realms of electrification and smart mobility.

As part of this agreement, FAW-VW is set to introduce 11 new models starting in 2026, tailored specifically for the Chinese market. This lineup will include six battery electric vehicle (BEV) models, two plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models, two range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) models, and one traditional fuel-powered vehicle model. These additions will significantly expand FAW-VW’s product range to cater to the evolving demands for diverse mobility solutions.

Looking towards the future, FAW-VW has plans to launch over 20 new models by 2030 under its various brands, adopting a strategic approach that encompasses both conventional and electrified powertrains.

On the technological front, FAW-VW’s new energy vehicle lineup will incorporate cutting-edge technologies such as the CMP (China Main Platform) and the CEA (China Electrical Architecture) to support the introduction of compact vehicle models. This integration will include two BEVs and two PHEVs, accelerating the company’s shift towards intelligent and electrified mobility.

Furthermore, a new model based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform will undergo a comprehensive smart upgrade through CEA integration. In the mid-size vehicle segment, FAW-VW is gearing up to launch two BEV models alongside their REEV counterparts, built on Volkswagen’s next-generation platforms to cater to consumers looking for long-range capabilities and an enhanced driving experience.

The JETTA brand is also poised to make its mark in the entry-level BEV market with the debut of its first all-electric vehicle model in 2026. Designed to be competitively priced and packed with innovative features, this launch signifies JETTA’s foray into the realm of intelligent connected vehicles, further solidifying FAW-VW’s position in the market.
