Waffle House is getting DC fast chargers – and it’s a genius move

Waffle House and bp pulse are teaming up to bring DC fast charging stations to a network of Waffle House locations across the South and Southeast. This partnership will see each site equipped with six DC fast charging bays featuring 400kW chargers with both CCS and NACS connectors. The first of these charging stations are expected to go live in 2026.

For those unfamiliar, Waffle House is known for being open 24/7, even during hurricanes and major storms. In fact, there is a “Waffle House Index” used by FEMA and emergency responders to assess the severity of a storm based on whether Waffle House locations are open or closed. This reliability makes Waffle House a smart choice for DC fast chargers, especially in evacuation scenarios or on road trips.

Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas, expressed excitement about adding Waffle House locations to their growing portfolio of EV charging sites. The spokesperson for bp pulse mentioned that the first batch of 50 sites is already in development. With Waffle House locations strategically placed along major highways and popular routes, this move is expected to significantly improve EV charging accessibility in areas that need an infrastructure boost.

If you’re interested in making your home more resilient to power outages, especially in areas prone to natural disasters, consider going solar and adding a battery storage system. EnergySage is a free service that can help you find trusted and competitive solar installers near you. By going solar, you can save 20-30% compared to going it alone. EnergySage offers personalized solar quotes that are easy to compare online, with unbiased Energy Advisers available to assist you every step of the way.

In conclusion, the partnership between Waffle House and bp pulse is a significant step towards expanding the EV charging infrastructure in the South and Southeast. With the reliability and accessibility of Waffle House locations, EV drivers can now enjoy fast charging while grabbing a plate of their favorite Waffle House meal.
