Forseven: The British EV Start-Up Making Waves in the Luxury Car Market

Forseven, a little-known British EV start-up backed by cash-rich CYVN Holdings, is making big moves in the global luxury car market. With a focus on “sophistication with purpose,” Forseven has managed to attract some of the industry’s best-known executives, despite never revealing any cars or concepts.

Leading the team at Forseven is former JLR vehicle programme chief Nick Collins, who played a key role in hybridizing the Range Rover and developing future electric Jaguars. In charge of design is Alister Whelan, known for his work at Jaguar on models like the F-Type and F-Pace. And as managing director, Mike Flewitt brings his experience from McLaren Automotive, where he oversaw the launch of iconic models like the P1 and Senna hypercars.

The team at Forseven also includes talent from Lotus, with Mike Johnstone and Conor Horne joining from the Geely-owned company. With a hiring spree underway, Forseven is looking to fill numerous high-profile positions as it gears up for its debut in the luxury car market.

While Forseven has yet to reveal a car, rumors suggest a potential merger with McLaren Automotive. This partnership could see Forseven benefit from McLaren’s well-regarded brand for its first models, while McLaren gains access to a range of SUVs to boost sales volumes and revenue.

Although McLaren has been rumored to be working on an electric SUV, CEO Michael Leiters has prioritized profitability for the company. However, with CYVN Holdings’ recent takeover of McLaren promising a fresh cash injection, the prospect of an electric SUV from the brand may be back on the table.
