Xiaomi is gearing up to reintroduce the SU7 Ultra, the ultra-performance variant of its first electric vehicle model, as it prepares to launch the Xiaomi 15 Ultra phone by the end of this month. The company seems to have set an aggressive sales target for the SU7 Ultra, following the success of the regular SU7 model.

According to Xiaomi’s founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun, the SU7 Ultra has a sales target of 10,000 units for this year. Lei made this announcement at an event where employees received small incentives in red envelopes to mark the start of the new year’s work.

Lei also hinted that he will “release” the SU7 Ultra when he unveils the Xiaomi 15 Ultra phone later this month. It remains unclear whether this will be a reintroduction or an official launch of the model, as the term “release” can be interpreted in different ways. Previously, Lei had mentioned that the official launch of the SU7 Ultra was scheduled for March.

The SU7 Ultra was first unveiled at a product launch event on October 29 last year, with pre-sales starting at a price of RMB 814,900 ($112,040). The model received an overwhelming response, with 3,680 pre-orders within the first 10 minutes of the pre-sale launch.

Xiaomi EV has now announced that it will showcase the SU7 Ultra in 112 stores across 42 cities starting from February 5. This move aims to generate further interest and awareness for the model among potential buyers.

The regular SU7 electric sedan, Xiaomi’s first EV model, was launched on March 28, 2024. It is available in three variants – Standard, Pro, and Max – with starting prices ranging from RMB 215,900 to RMB 299,900.

In 2024, Xiaomi delivered over 135,000 cars and is targeting to sell 300,000 units in 2025. The company’s aggressive expansion plans reflect its commitment to establishing a strong presence in the electric vehicle market.

The SU7 Ultra prototype had previously set a record at the Nürburgring, completing a lap in 6 minutes and 46.874 seconds, making it the fastest four-door car on the track. The production version of the SU7 Ultra was listed in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology regulatory catalog, revealing key specifications such as dimensions and powertrain details.

Powered by Li-ion ternary batteries from CATL, the SU7 Ultra boasts impressive performance figures, with peak power ratings ranging from 288 kW to 425 kW for its three motors. The model is equipped with a 93.7 kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 630 kilometers.

With its innovative technology and performance capabilities, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new release from Xiaomi.
