Xiaomi Automobile has recently unveiled a groundbreaking patent for a solid-state battery invention, titled “Solid-State Battery Composite Electrode, Preparation Method, and Solid-State Battery Including the Composite Electrode.” This patent, which was published on June 13, 2025, showcases Xiaomi’s commitment to advancing battery technology in the automotive industry. The original patent application was filed on December 12, 2023.

The patent abstract outlines the design of a solid-state battery composite electrode, its preparation method, and its integration into a solid-state battery. The composite electrode consists of a current collector and an electrode material layer. The electrode material layer is stacked on the current collector and includes a matrix and a solid-state electrolyte. The solid-state electrolyte permeates the electrode material layer along the current collector’s thickness direction. The matrix comprises an electrode active material, conductive agent, and binder, while the solid-state electrolyte comprises a polymer and metal salt. This innovative composite electrode enhances the transmission path for metal ions within the thick electrode, thereby improving their transfer rate between electrodes. As a result, the solid-state battery composite electrode offers high electrode capacity and exceptional rate performance.

This development has significant implications for Xiaomi Automobile’s range capabilities. The company had previously announced its Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery pack system, which could achieve a CLTC range exceeding 1,000 km, with a platform upper limit of over 1,200 km. Xiaomi Automobile introduced its CTB battery pack in late December 2023, shortly after filing the solid-state battery patent application. This suggests that the solid-state battery technology could play a crucial role in helping Xiaomi Automobile achieve its goal of surpassing a driving range of 1,000 km.

The integration of this innovative solid-state battery technology into Xiaomi Automobile’s vehicles signifies a major step forward in the development of high-performance electric vehicles. With a focus on enhancing battery efficiency and range, Xiaomi Automobile is poised to revolutionize the electric vehicle market and provide consumers with cutting-edge technology that combines sustainability and performance.

In conclusion, Xiaomi Automobile’s solid-state battery patent reveals a promising future for the company’s electric vehicles. By leveraging advanced battery technology, Xiaomi Automobile aims to deliver exceptional driving range and performance, setting a new standard for electric vehicles in the automotive industry.
