The JMEV 01, previously known as the SC-01, is an electric sports car that has recently been spotted undergoing testing in Guangzhou, China. With backing from Xiaomi and developed by Tianjin Gongjianpai Auto Technology, this sleek vehicle is set to hit the market at a competitive price of 300,000 yuan (approximately 41,850 USD), positioning itself against rivals like the MG Cyberster.

Retaining the distinctive design elements of the original SC-01, the JMEV 01 features sharp headlights, circular taillights, and a two-door roadster layout. Measuring 4106 mm in length, 1830 mm in width, and 1170 mm in height, with a curb weight of 1,365 kg, this electric sports car is slightly heavier than the Porsche Cayman 987.

Under the hood, the JMEV 01 is powered by dual synchronous permanent magnet motors from Empower, delivering an impressive 320 kW (429 hp) and reaching a top speed of 200 km/h. The vehicle has showcased its performance capabilities with a lap time of 1:06 at Beijing’s Goldenport Park Circuit, a feat comparable to the Porsche 992 Carrera S.

Equipped with a mid-mounted ternary NMC battery from CALB, the JMEV 01 offers a range of 520 km on a single charge and supports various driving modes including front-wheel, rear-wheel, four-wheel drive, and a sport mode. The battery can be fast-charged in under 25 minutes from 30% to 80%, providing convenience for drivers on the go.

Originally unveiled as the SC-01 in September 2022, the vehicle has undergone significant changes and is now integrated into the JMEV brand, a joint venture between Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) and Renault. Despite facing challenges in the past, JMEV is gearing up for a potential revival with the production of the JMEV 01 at its Nanchang plant, which has an annual capacity of 100,000 vehicles.

While production delays may have caused setbacks, the JMEV 01 is now on track for launch, with a sales license secured and production in full swing. With its stylish design, impressive performance capabilities, and competitive pricing, the JMEV 01 is poised to make a mark in the electric sports car market and attract enthusiasts looking for a thrilling driving experience.
