Xiaomi is making significant strides in the electric vehicle (EV) market, with the company recently announcing the construction of the second phase of its Beijing plant. This new phase will add to the existing capacity of the plant, bringing the total combined capacity to 300,000 units.
The company’s EV arm, Xiaomi EV, has been making waves in the industry, delivering over 135,000 vehicles in 2024 alone. With ambitious targets set for 2025, Xiaomi is aiming to deliver 300,000 vehicles next year. Lei Jun, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, revealed these plans in a recent live video.
Xiaomi EV has been expanding its presence across China, with 200 stores already open in 58 cities. The company’s first model, the SU7, has been a resounding success since its unveiling in December 2023. Despite being a year away from launch, SU7 deliveries for 2024 have already surpassed 130,000 units, exceeding expectations.
Looking ahead, Xiaomi EV is focused on ramping up production and accelerating deliveries in the new year. The company officially entered the automotive industry in March 2021 and has since made significant progress with the launch of the SU7.
In addition to the SU7, Xiaomi EV has plans to introduce new models, including the SU7 Ultra and the YU7 SUV. The SU7 Ultra, available for pre-sales in China, is priced at RMB 814,900, nearly four times the starting price of the regular SU7. The official launch of the SU7 Ultra is scheduled for March 2025.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi recently announced the name of its second EV model, the YU7, with a launch expected in June or July next year. The company’s commitment to innovation and expansion in the EV market is evident through these strategic moves.
