Xiaomi EV Achieves Major Milestone with 100,000th SU7 Vehicle Produced
Xiaomi’s foray into the electric vehicle market has been met with great success, as the company recently celebrated the production of its 100,000th SU7 vehicle. This milestone comes just 230 days after the launch of the SU7, marking a significant achievement for Xiaomi’s car-making unit.
Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, took to Weibo to share the news of this important milestone. He expressed his pride in the rapid progress of Xiaomi in the auto industry, highlighting the speed at which the company has reached this production milestone. To commemorate the occasion, Xiaomi will be holding a celebration ceremony later today.
Lei Jun personally visited the Xiaomi EV factory early in the day, even taking a nap on the plant floor to experience the momentous occasion firsthand.
The SU7, Xiaomi’s first production vehicle, was officially launched on March 28, 2021, positioning itself as a direct competitor to Tesla’s Model 3. Available in three versions – Standard, Pro, and Max – the SU7 offers a range of features to cater to different customer preferences, with prices starting at RMB 215,900 ($29,850).
In a bid to further expand its lineup, Xiaomi introduced the SU7 Ultra, a more powerful variant of the SU7, which began pre-sales in China at a price of RMB 814,900. The SU7 Ultra is set to make its debut at the Guangzhou auto show, with an official launch scheduled for March 2025.
Xiaomi has been on track to exceed its target of 100,000 cumulative deliveries of the SU7 series by November, with a new target of 120,000 deliveries for the full year of 2024. The company has seen a steady increase in monthly deliveries, with figures exceeding 10,000 units from July to September and over 20,000 units in October.
Looking ahead, Xiaomi aims to ramp up production to 24,000 units per month in November and December to meet growing demand. The SU7 is currently manufactured at a plant in Beijing, with an annual capacity of 150,000 units in the first phase and plans for further expansion in the second phase.
As Xiaomi continues to make strides in the electric vehicle market, the company remains committed to innovation and delivering high-quality vehicles to consumers. With the 100,000th SU7 vehicle rolling off the assembly line, Xiaomi is well-positioned for continued success in the competitive EV industry.
